If you knew that articles or blog posts were how you were going to be able to attain all of your traction… Or guest blogging was the place where you were going to get all your momentum… Or Google+, or Twitter was where you were going to get all of your momentum… Then you could take what I just shared with you and you could say, “Well, I’ll just go out and I’m going to become a guru at that one place of website traffic.”

Finding the Right Website Traffic Source

That said, there’s a preparatory stage that has to transpire. You’ve got to determine which one of these is likely to work better for you. In the endeavor of identifying which website traffic source is more suitable for you, you should try several sources of website traffic.

You’ll notice I discussed this second, not first.

That’s because I needed you to hear what I just said concerning specialization first, before I spoke about trying out the different website traffic sources. Because, if you’re not mindful you’ll come away from what I’m about to say, and say “Alright, well Frank said go out and test 10 different website traffic methods.”

Then they don’t notice the portion where I say “for a short time period.”

For instance, if you create an article that goes to EzineArticles, you send them to a unique landing page, that has a unique webform code on it, so you know precisely how many subscribers are being generated every single month from those content pieces.

You know exactly the amount of subscribers are generated every month from guest blogging. You know exactly how many leads are generated from Twitter, from Facebook, from your affiliate program, from anywhere else.

Subsequently you’ll bundle that with a time sheet. Dub it a website traffic timesheet. Whenever you sit down to work on website traffic, you log into your website traffic time sheet. You can do this in an Excel spreadsheet. You likewise can do this with pen and paper.

Here’s how a website traffic timesheet:

If you work on articles for 15 minutes you write down “articles or blog posts – 15 minutes.”

Let’s say, for instance, that it’s June, so you’ve got a June spreadsheet. And it says, “articles or blog posts – 15 minutes. Facebook – 30 minutes.” Then you spend an additional 20 minutes on articles or blog posts, so you need to update articles or blog posts to 35 minutes.

At the conclusion of the month you’ll be able to observe at a glance that you spent 200 minutes on articles. You devoted 100 minutes on guest blogging. You spent 75 minutes in Twitter. Do the math! For example:

You invested 75 minutes on Facebook and you got 4 leads. That’s one prospect every 18.5 minutes or so. And at the conclusion of the month, you’ll have the ability to say “Okay, from one website traffic source I get a subscriber for every 10 minutes of work. What does this mean?

It means if you’re going to continue to do the work in the future, you probably want to get subscribers that are coming in from sources that don’t take you as long to get. Or, what it means is, if you employ somebody to do your work for you, you know what to have them do to be the most economical. Let’s say you hire somebody for 10 hours a week to do work for you. If you’re intending to pay them for 10 hours of work a week, you want them on the website traffic source that will permit them to generate the most amount of prospects for you as quickly as possible.

The best way you will know is with your spreadsheet.
